about

  • loved visiting and encouraging my dad who had cancer. it was a beautiful thing to watch how much Reed encouraged dad. When dad had a horrible day, Reed would gently sit by him, gently putting his muzzle under dad’s hand. Soon dad would be feeling much better
  • cuddler A-#1 … a bit like Marmaduke here
  • loves to entertain…hence how easily he achieved his AKC TKA (Trick Dog Advanced)
  • son to joy
  • half-brother to party

titles and accomplishments – life’s challenges have slowed down, hence Reed and I have been busy

  • conformation: CH = champion with AKC
  • performance:
    • scent work/nosework = dog looks for odors like clove; sorta like drug dogs
      • AKC – SIN = scentwork interior novice
      • AKC – SCA = scentwork container advanced
      • AKC – SEN = scentwork exterior novice
      • AKC – SHDN = scentwork handler discrimination (dog finds a glove which has the owner’s scent on it
      • NACSW – NW1
      • UKC – NI = novice interior
      • UKC – NC = novice container
      • UKC – NHD = novice handler discrimination
    • tricks
  • service: we have no official titles or special privilages, but the CGC is a great start for a dog, and even better, the Star Puppy. UKC also offers simuliar (SPOT = socialized pet obedience test), but none are available close by us
    • has visited a school for dog day
    • helped encourage my dad while he had cancer
    • AKC – STAR PUPPY = not an official title, but means that the puppy has basic manners to go in publice
    • AKC – CGC = canine good citizen = dog has extra training that shows he is not afraid of things like wheelchairs and behaves well for vets

We are also working on performance: agility, obedience, and rally (a type of obedience), and trick dog performance. We have tried herding, but as we don’t do it very much, so Reed’s idea is move the sheep for awhile and then go lie down under a shade tree before it’s time
